Oh my gosh, it's October already?! Where did my September go? I haven't even had any decent posts last month... Well, I'm going to start the month with another currently post. I find that this is a great way of updating my blog on a personal level.
I'm pretty excited and nervous about October. So much is happening in my life right now but I know that everything happens for a reason...

Currently...

Reading: This awesome recipe for liege waffles by smitten kitchen! These waffles are also called gaufre de liège. I've been obsessed about making waffles and while I wait for the perfect waffle maker to arrive I've decided to scout the internet for awesome waffle recipes!

Writing: A list of everything I need to do and accomplish before the weekend.

Listening To: Pop Rock covers of several songs by Twenty One Two on YouTube. Check this rad version of Taylor Swift's Blank Space.

Smelling: KFC's Twister in Pizza flavor because a steaming one is chilling right beside me while I type this blog post out.

Wearing: House clothes, the super comfortable kind.

Thinking: About what time I should sleep tonight so that I don't end up rushing around for tomorrow's duty at the operating room.

Feeling: Anxious and nervous because tomorrow is a big day for me... I'll be explaining more about all the anxiety I'm feeling in a different post.

Loving: Speculoos Cookie Butter. I've had the opportunity to get my hands on a bottle again. It's pretty difficult to get my hands on stuff like this because Zamboanga is super "provincial" in some aspects. I've been using the spread on my toasted cream bread... I'm planning to make cookies with this spread soon!

Wanting: A huge scoop of strawberry ice cream while I watch Grey's Anatomy reruns.

Needing: A breather. I've been overanalyzing everything that's going on in my life the past few days and I'm exhausted! It's only the first of the month!

Wishing: I knew what the hell I was doing.

Hello, August!

I sailed through July like it didn't even happen! August is finally here and before we know it it'll be the start of the "ber" months already... There's definitely been a change in the air. Mornings are a wee bit cooler and so are the evenings too. That's probably why I don't mind the power blackouts (normal thing in Zamboanga!) in the evenings because the air is a bit cooler than usual.

I have a pretty full August schedule. I'm glancing at my planner-calendar while I'm typing away on the iMac and seeing all the sticky notes posted everyone and the scribbles is making me a bit dizzy. I have a ton of cake orders due the upcoming days and I feel so lucky to be able to have this kind of sideline to help me along financially while I'm still just a reliever nurse (no work, no pay y'all!)

I know I haven't been such a good blogger but right now I've been channeling all my energy into my "real life" work, baking & personal family matters. There are so many things I need to do and yet I feel that 24 hours per day isn't enough. Time and again, I've said that I wish I were an octopus so I can get multiple things done with all those extra hands!

Anyway, I'll try to schedule several posts so that I can at least keep a decent flow of activity on the blog. Watch out for changes in  the layout very soon as I transition to more of a lifestyle-personal type of blog. *winks*

Ciao for now!

Where Have I Been?!

Hello everyone! It's been a month since my last blog post and I've received some messages on my Facebook page asking me where I've been and what have I been up to? Well today I've decided to finally update my blog because I have a bit of free time to spare...

 photo tumblr_m4eq78erXU1qmbt9lo1_500_zpsfjhhu5lx.jpg

I had so many blog posts lined up for May2015 yet didn't manage to publish any of them due to time constraints and a lot of things happening in my personal life... It all started last April2015... I've been having several health issues that I needed to attend to immediately. That was a major reason why I haven't been posting anything on this blog. I'm currently working on a blog post explaining the health scare I went through in the hopes that this opens up your eyes to the importance of taking care of yourself.

Another reason for my absence were my classes for my masteral degree. As most of you know by now, I'm a nurse by profession and have been trying to complete all my academic requirements for my masteral degree classes before I take my big comprehensive exam and move onto my thesis making... I've been having classes since May 04 and until recently have been swamped with school requirements.

May has also been a busy month for my lil online bakeshop Sugar Works. I've been dealing with several orders that are a bit more complex than my usual pineapple upside down cake. In case you're from Zamboanga (hello ZC readers!) please check out my page and support a local baker! *wink*

I'll be cutting this post short for now but expect a new blog post about my health experiences very soon!

Weekly Updates!

 photo Cath-Kidston-Rose-Stripe-White-R_zps10ecbba8.jpg
This week has been a rushed kind of week. So many things to do, so little time! I've been rushing around the house trying to get everything together. Why? Well, I'm leaving for a little trip on the 24th and I want everything in order at home before I leave. I'm not sure if I've mentioned this before but I live next door to my grand folks and as my parents are away most of the time, they are my legal guardians. They're the ones taking care of me BUT in reality, it's the other way around! *laughs* The past week has has me making meal plans for them, preparing for lola's birthday tomorrow (01-19-15) and everything else in between but I also promised myself I'd try my best to update this blog regularly. So, here's a weekly update.

I'm still fallowing a calorie-counted meal plan from One Tomato ZC and above are some of my favorite meals for this week! Curried chicken rice and veggies, grilled tuna belly with pickled veggies and upland brown rice, greek pita wrap (chicken) with yogurt dressing, beef pot roast with mushroom gravy and upland brown rice, grilled salmon with sprouts and upland brown rice and lastly, my ultimate favorite meal this week : roasted chicken with apple sauce, veggies and upland brown rice!

This little cutie pie happens to be my first "child" client. Her mommy (a co-worker) had me do her makeup because she was a flower girl at a wedding the other day. I despise heavy makeup on kids so all I did was add a bit of definition and sparkle. I tried to stick with pinks and very light browns to emphasize her youth. That barbie-hot pink lipstick is MAC's Candy Yum Yum, by the way.

I also received my items from Prinsesitasarah Cosmetics this week. I ordered a "cult" favorite, the L.A. Girl gel liner in black. I also ordered additional Wet n Wild megalast lipsticks in just peachy and cinnamon spice. I have a growing collection of these lipsticks and I knew I just had to get these particular shades since I've been tracking them down for forever!

Yesterday I went to run some errands before I started to tinker around in the kitchen. I decided to put on a "full face" and use my new lipstick. It's the cinnamon spice one. Cinnamon spice is a brick red with a lot of brown undertones. It looks really nice on my medium light-medium skin tone and is actually very wearable even in the day time!

I also made fondant from scratch and even if it was a bit ugly at first, it finally came together in a cohesive ball. I wrapped it up in cling wrap and left it to "season" a bit.
 photo IMG_0268_zpsf5a4daea.jpg
I also baked fudgy brownies this week. After trying out a couple recipes, I finally found one that I really liked. Its thick and fudgy on the inside but crinkly on the outside. I bet this'll taste even better with a topping of toasted almonds or a drizzle of salted caramel!!! *drools*
 photo 2cookies_zps691f3371.jpg
Lastly I made butter sugar cookies with royal icing design. These are definitely on the menu at Sugar Works for this upcoming Valentine's Day. I'm all about the L-O-V-E, baby! *laughs* photo IMG_0313_zps84629198.png
I'm going to end this post with this fun collage I made with an application called PhotoGrid. It's for free in the App Store. Go get it! It's pretty cool and easy to manipulate...

That's it for this week. I'm off to start packing my luggage for my trip. Till my next post!

Hello May.

I always look forward to the month of May because I'm a proud May baby. Being a Taurus has its ups & downs but I'm pretty used to it by this time. *chuckles* They say you should never ask a lady her age, but I'm quite proud of how old I am turning...

On May 12 I'll be turning 23 years old. It is a bit intimidating that I'm getting older each year but at the same time it's exciting because it means I'm a year wiser and there are more opportunities for me at 23 years old.

Last year, I celebrated my birthday with my OR workmates, family & friends. This year I'm celebrating it with the same OR workmates, co-trainees, family, friends as well as new friends and A. It's going to be a blast! I can feel it in my bones...
