Review : Mimi The Porcelain Doll Soap

Do you want to be a flawless as a porcelain doll? Well Mimi & Tofu's Mimi The Porcelain Doll Soap claims to give you just that effect. Read on to find out if this product worked for me!

Shipping / Shop Packaging :
I received this soap a few months ago but put off reviewing it because at the time I received this, I was already using a whole lot of other products. Opportunity came soon enough for me to test this product out... Anyway, I received the soap (along with other goodies) from Mimi & Tofu enclosed in a layer of bubble wrap and packaged inside a paper bag with the shop logo printed on it. Thumbs up for the lovely detailing and also the care they took into packing the items. Shipping was fast and reliable.

Design / Effectiveness / Scent :
The soap is cut into a rough rectangular shape and each bar contains 100 grams of product. Now at first glance you'd think this bar were a deep forest green color, but up close it looks more like a very deep honey color and is quite translucent in a sense... The soap isn't like other soaps that lather up well, it is naturally not sudsy so don't fret if yours won't lather up. You'd have to work it pretty hard for it to start to even remotely give off a lather. Now for some that may be a good thing, while other might find it unappealing. For me, I would have preferred it to lather up some more. Its smell is a mix of licorice or some other form of candy. It actually smells good enough to eat, like sweets we used to get as a kid. As for its effectiveness... Well this soap claims to be a blemish fading, whitening face & body bar. I initially started using this only on my face and I did notice a very slight fading on "fresh" scars left behind by my recent battle with pimples but the older scars remained the same. I think it will take a much longer time for those older scars to fade away. Another thing that I did notice is that it left my skin feeling smoother but I still do have the need of using an exfoliating facial wash to thoroughly clean my face. My technique is that I exfoliate first then use the soap to wash up again afterwards. It soothes my previously exfoliated face and leaves my skin smoother than before. As for the claims of whitening, I still have yet to notice drastic changes in my three weeks of using this product. This soap also costs P170/bar which can be kind of pricey in my opinion but still you pay for the top notch ingredient used to produce this soap.

Overall :
Overall I like this soap but do not love it. I like the smell of the soap and how gentle it is on the skin. I like that it lightens the fresher scars and also helps soothe my skin after a particularly rough exfoliating session. I also love the fact that Mimi & Tofu packages it so well. I have already mentioned what I don't like about the product, so I won't repeat that anymore. Shall I repurchase once my free samples run out? Only if I do not find something better...

    - no. i'm scarred to buy stuffs online if it's for my usual facial routine. i have a really sensitive skin, so mahirap para sakin basta na lang bumili. good reviews doesn't always mean good to my face. kasi kakaiba talaga balat ko sa muka. madali sya mairitate.
