Makeup Tutorial : Tangerine Dream

Aside from blue & purple, orange is another one of my favorite colors. I may not have a lot of orange clothes or even orange makeup products but I do really like the color, especially tangerine-like shades. So yesterday I decided to create a wearable orange based makeup look that I've called Tangerine Dream. This is definitely a nice look to wear out to sunny afternoon parties. It's not a "boring" neutral look nor is it too much of an "in your face" colorful look. It sits right in between!

Makeup Challenge : "Work Appropriate" Makeup

When I posted my Smokey Peacock tutorial, a fellow Zamboanga blogger (Raisie) left a comment that caught my attention. I've always wanted to do a "work appropriate" look that you could easily take to a night out after work hours.
Challenge (lol!) accepted!

NAIAD Sugar Whipped Soap in Bamboo Sugarcane

Aside from makeup, I also obsess over bath products. I try out a ton of different soaps, shampoos, conditioners, and scrubs. I discovered my love for scrubs late last year when I went through a phase in my life where I had super rough and dry skin no matter how much lotion I used. A close friend of mine told me that maybe I need a good deep exfoliation and introduced me to my first scrub (Asian Secrets Lulur Whitening Scrub). Needless to say, I was hooked!

Two weeks ago I came across a brand I've never heard of before, Naiad.

"I first started making soap in 2006 since gentle products for my sensitive skin were hard to find or ridiculously expensive. I was quickly hooked on soap making and began devouring any book on the subject that I could find. I soon had too much soap to handle, so in November of that year I started selling my soapy creations as a little side job to my career in advertising. After I was laid off from my job in 2007, with the support of my family and amazing husband I took the business full time and haven’t looked back!
We now make Glycerin soap, Cold Process soap, Sugar Scrubs, Lip Balms and Liquid Soap, all made with the same small batch, high quality standards that I cherish!" - Erin Pikor
I really wanted to try out her scrubs but I didn't want to risk international shipping which I find to be too taxing. So that was that, I would never be able to try out Naiad products right? Wrong!
Last week I stumbled upon Naiad again on the Makeup Hub by NC site and to my excitement, they had Naiad products available PLUS at that time, they had a special "birthday blowout discount" so I was able to avail of several scrubs for less!

From the NAIAD site :
Bamboo Sugarcane
A sparkling splash of citrus and sweet florals of jasmine and rose, join branches of green leaves with a dry down of pure sugar sweetness. This scent is amazingly fresh and irresistible - great for both men and women. This creamy whipped bath confection is the ultimate wash time delight! You will love the light fluffy texture of this whipped soap and the seemingly endless bubbly lather with just enough fine sugar to gently exfoliate.
Our sugar whipped soap is bubbly, scrubby, skin softening with a minimal environmental impact!
Always SLS, Paraben and Phalate free!

Ingredients: Sucrose, Distilled Water, Glycerin, Sorbitol, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Disodium Lauryl Sulfosuccinate, Sodium Chloride, Phenoxyethanol, Tetrasodium EDTA], Sweet Almond Oil, Fragrance, Hydrated Chromium Green.
The reason I got this variant for myself is because I like fresh scents and I had a feeling this would be perfect. Guess what? It is!

Love :
* Scent - it's very "zen" and refreshing. I'm definitely going to purchase a bigger tub of this soon!
* Texture - the "granules" of the scrub are just the right size and texture to gently but efficiently exfoliate my skin, leaving me with baby soft skin especially in areas like my soles and elbows!
* Affordable - IMHO, for a product as great as this, it's pretty affordable at 250/tub.
* Great packaging - I love the "tin" cover, labeling and even the actual color of the product.
* SLS, Paraben & Phthalate free!!!

Hate :
* Unavailable locally - I'll have to spend for additional shipping every time I want to repurchase! :(
* No whitening effects - but this is sort of a personal choice. I'm just a bit of a "whitening" freak. LOL!

Overall :

I really like this sugar scrub and I'm planning to repurchase from Makeup Hub once I'm done with this small tub. I definitely recommend it to anyone who's looking for a gentle and fun smelling scrub that's great for everyday. If you're a sucker for nice packaging, this definitely will interest you as well.

Go check out Makeup Hub By NC and purchase your own tub now!
Next up for me are the Naiad Artisan Soaps!

Must Have : Beauty Cosmetics Face Precision Kit + GIVEAWAY!

 photo 1_zpsa97eb7c9.jpg
What : Beauty Cosmetics Face Precision Kit
Where : Beauty Cosmetics
Price : P450
** Kit was sent to me for review purposes. All opinions are unbiased & my own.
Last year I got myself the Sigma Synthetic Kabuki Kit and I thought of how cool it would be if they had smaller counterparts. A few months later Sigma released their precision kit. My prayer was answered, right? Yet the price I had to pay was something my wallet didn't agree with me on, so I decided not to purchase it. Lucky for me, one of my favorite "beauty products store", Beauty Cosmetics released their own version of the face precision kit at a lower and much more affordable price! Read on to know how I feel about this kit after testing it out for a month.

Round Precision Brush - or applying eyeshadow base or primer to lid, can also be used to blend concealer under eye area.
Out of the 5 brushes in the kit, this happens to be my favorite. It is very versatile and is packed with just the right density for it to create a very flawless look. I like using this to blend out my under eye concealer and also to blend out concealer applied on the sides of my nose.
 photo 6_zpscdae9a30.jpg
Tapered Precision Brush - for exact placement of concealer in harder to reach areas such as sides of the nose, around the eyes, chin and around the mouth.

This is my second favorite out of the 5 brushes. I use this mostly for application purposes rather than blending purposes. I find it easier to apply my under eye concealer with this brush. I also use this brush to apply concealer on hard to reach areas like the sides of my nose and I use the very tip of this brush for spot concealing small problem areas.
 photo 8_zps44a67903.jpg
Angled Precision Brush - for applying products to areas such as sides of the nose and hollows of the cheeks.

Before this brush came along, I had a difficult time sculpting and contouring my nose. *LOL* Needless to say, this brush really comes in handy for contouring my nose as well as giving added definition to the contours of your cheek. I also use this to blend my under eye concealer when my round precision brush isn't available.
 photo 7_zpse787dfa0.jpg
Slanted Precision Brush - flat angled precision brush designed for applying concealer anywhere on the face.
I like using the slanted precision brush to apply and blend out my eyeshadow primer/base. I find it a handy tool for this purpose.
 photo 9_zps7851759f.jpg
Flat Top Precision Brush - ideal for applying concealer on Sun spots, blemishes or any small imperfections on the face.

I use the flat top precision brush for spot concealing as well. I usually reach for this particular brush when I have a rather large pimple or bump to cover up. Also this is a good brush to use when you want to "stipple" on concealer or an extra layer of foundation on a small area of your face.
I've brought all 5 brushes when I have makeup gigs because they help a lot!
I definitely recommend them because they are functional, affordable & cruelty free (since they are made of synthetic hairs).
I love them so much that I've decided to give away 1 kit to 1 lucky reader!
