Review : Lideal Tofu BB Cream in #20

Like most asians (well, more like most girls), I've ventured into the world of BB creams since I started playing around with makeup. I've tried a ton from both asian & "american" brands. So far, my favorite's the EnCara BB Cream but I'm always on the look out for something to top that.
Like my other Thailand based products, I heard about this from ShebbyChic and have been seeing it on so many blogs and feedbacks on The Mestiza Hub Facebook page that it sparked an interest.

What I Like:
Affordable & available online thru a local Facebook shop.
Nice milk-like scent.
Very easy to blend.
Highly moisturizing & feels lightweight.
No greasy feeling after you put it on.
Didn't break me out.
Has a brightening effect.
Contains UV protection.
Good for sensitive skin.

What I Don't Like:
Hard to blend when you use face brushes.
Settles into my lines & large pores.
Doesn't last long on my oily skin when I don't use a primer.
Doesn't conceal any of my major flaws like acne scars & my under eye circles.
Poor shade selection. Women of color will have a hard time finding a shade to match.
Shade #20 (the darkest shade available) doesn't really match my NC35 skin tone.
Creates an ugly white cast on flash photography.

Overall:
 Where to begin? *hmmm*
I don't entirely dislike the product but I don't entirely love it either. I'm on the fence about it because even if it has a lot of skin benefits and is easy to use and is lightweight, it doesn't really do much for me. I need a BB Cream that can at least cover some of my redness and make me look decent but this is to sheer. Maybe for someone with already flawless skin, this could be their dream product but for me? Naaaah. Plus the color is off by a couple of shades that I end up using a second product to even everything out. To be honest, I end up using this as a tinted primer of some sort for a light second layer of foundation to go over with. This seems to even everything out. I guess the product didn't really work out for me but I'll still continue on using it as a tinted "primer" till I run out. I'd recommend this to friends who are fairer and have less "skin problems" to deal with.

Review : San San Hortaleza, MD BB Cream!

*ahhhh!*
My first post for May! So happy that it's finally my birth month. Watch out for a giveaway on the 12th!
Anyhooooo...
A few  months ago, my lovely friends from HBC sent me a goodie bag with their new products. First was the cream foundation which I reviewed in an earlier post and second is the SanSan Hortaleza, MD BB Cream. BB Creams have been all the rage since last year and I've seen different brands of BB Cream sprout out of nowhere but I'm really impressed that a Philippine brand has decided to join the bandwagon... Read on for more of my thoughts on this product.

Love :
* Packaging - I love the fact that it comes with a pump. This makes it a lot easier to handle and use plus it's hygienic. The packaging is also very lightweight and ideal for travel. It takes very minimal space in your kikay kit!
* Workable - It blends easily despite its thick consistency and sets fairly quickly but not fast enough that you can't blend it out anymore.
* Has SPF43, Squalane, Vitamins A,C,E & other good stuff!
* Semi Matte finish - I love the finish of this BB cream. Not too matte and not too "dewy".
* Great Coverage - This BB Cream by far has the best coverage out of all the BB Creams I've tried so far. It covers all that needs to be covered with only 1 layer of product. For more stubborn scars, I use 1 more layer.
* Doesn't have an unpleasant smell. I can tolerate the slight "sweet" hint I smell whenever I use this.
* Locally available at your nearest HBC stall!
* Affordably priced at P149.75!
Hate :
* Color Match - This doesn't match me now that I'm bordering the NC30-35 fence. It's a tad bit too dark for my face especially since I've been going overboard with all the SPF and whitening products. I hope SanSan releases the same BB Cream formulation with a wider range of shades!
* No OIL Control - For someone like me (I have oily-combi skin!) this is a major problem! I need a touch of powder after 3 hours, especially in the humid Philippine weather.

Ending this post with a music video by the Spice Girls. I'm turning 22 on May 12 and I just can't believe it's been so long since I last heard one of the Spice Girls' songs. I grew up in the 90's btw. :)

BB Cream, Anyone?

My first encounter with the BB cream phase was at 19 years old (take note I'm 21 now). My first ever BB cream was the Ecorre "artist" BB cream which worked splendidly on me but after 1 tube at P950 + shipping, I gave up and tried to look for other BB creams to try out.

Fast forward to when I was 20. I had stumbled upon more Korean BB creams like the ones from Missha (that broke me out horribly), Skin79 (that had an ugly gray-white cast), Skinfood (which cost me $$$ again) and even some from Maybelline which matched me better than the rest but still had pretty bad staying power and coverage.

Now at 21 years old, I had given up on BB cream and decided it's something to be left to the Koreans of really really intensely fair girls who had almost perfect skin and didn't need much coverage. It seemed to me that BB cream wasn't for someone like me who bordered on the combi-oily skin type and was stuck between NC35-NC40 at times. No, BB cream wasn't for me... Or so I thought!

About a week ago I was browsing thru YouTube when I stumbled upon an update that one of my favorite gurus had uploaded a new video. Ate NOE of Colorismyweapon has played a huge role in my love for makeup alongside other Filipina makeup gurus. One of the things I learned from Ate Noe is how to fill in my brows and I still get a lot of compliments on them! *wink* Now going back to her video... It was a review (+giveaway) on this BB cream that was sent to her by Ate Aila.

The BB cream happens to be the Encara Perfect Cover Blemish Balm. While watching Ate Noe's video, I was just astounded at the actual product so I went ahead to read more about it on her blog post. I kept thinking that a product that great must cost a lot but lo and behold...

Miss Aila's page banner.
Ate Aila is selling it for only P499. I knew I just had to try this out. Even with shipping it still cost a lot less than other Korean BB creams I tried in the past.

Well I received my BB cream a few days ago and have been using it since. I'll reserve an in depth review for when I've been using it for at least 2 weeks so watch out for it. For now, I'll leave you guys with a few product photos...

Excited for my review yet? *LOL*

Questions for my lovely readers:
Do you use BB cream?
What brand?
Do you like it? Would you recommend it?

Will wait for your answers dears! Catch you guys soon!
